TGIF ! Thank you 2018, Welcome 2019

TGIF Montly Team Discussion - Cover Slide

Every month, the team hosts the TGIF event (thanks god it's Friday!), a 60 minute gathering to discuss everything but projects ! Last Friday was year end Friday! Perfect time to look back at 2018 and prepare 2019.

We gathered in B202, probably the most unknown and undiscovered meeting room in the building. To balance the lack of windows ... we came up equipped with drinks and homemade Xmas cookies (not sure though it can actually replace windows and daylight.... sigh...)

We opened the discussion by briefly sharing 2018 highlights and what we plan to improve in 2019

  • New 3D Printer & mockups in design process

  • New designers on board

  • Good design with less usability issues

  • Improvement of efficiency

  • Positive development of interactions with UE team

the next 30 minutes or so, we spent them sending flowers to each others. every designers prepared in advance a short message on sticky notes for each individual team member with a few words describing what they think each member is good or remarkable at.

End of the year, time to say each other thank you for what we accomplished together through the year.
2018 TGIF - End of the year, time to say each other thank you for what we accomplished together through the year.

Before we all got emotional with wet eyes, we moved on to laying ground ready for 2019. No surprise, ID team's first focus will still be to focus on users !

2019 ID team mission

Also the time to introduce to the team, some plans for 2019 ...

nothing wrong with your eyes ... the picture is blurred to keep it confidential.

A plan is a plan, does not mean everything will happen or keep the same. plans are meant to give a direction and to be modified with the reality of business conditions.

2019 ID team plan with a couple of new and exciting upcoming items !

Finally before we set up apart for a long and well deserved 4 day week end break, it was time to run the 1st ID team awards ceremony to reward the best performing team members.

these last weeks i spent time to reflect on what is each member of our team performance and value. I wanted to give a tool to each designers to show to other designers and to colleagues from other functions what they outperform with ! it did not take long time to associate the idea of Merit Badges, Magnet support, and our 3D printer.

2018 2H ID team Performance Badges earned by members

Zoey was crowned "RENDER WITCH" for it's high quality rendering with Keyshot.

Ray's amazing involvement in designer's development got him The "TRUSTY MENTOR" badge. After a full year made of DVR and Tablets projects, Mac received the "CMF MONK" : his eyes on details always push our products to the next level. Sky, a never give up kind of guy, was awarded the "NIGHT OWL" for it's long and committed evenings in office struggling to meet deadlines and design quality. Our latest designer on Board, our Mountain lover Martin, demonstrated his abilities to visualize a large range of ideas by hands with his favorite weapons, the copic Markers. He is our new "COPIC ADDICT".

Last but not least, Deloon and Rick, our team best performers, received each 2 badges.

Deloon has show great skills for building ideas and quickly, the "SPEEDY INNOVATOR" will now be together with the "TEAM SPIRIT" badge, well deserved, for showing his support to each team members, a positive attitude and multiple initiatives. Rick has shown proven "FOCUS & DISCIPLINE", his CREO 3d skills got the first title of "CREO MASTER".

After an hour or so, it was time to close the monthly "thanks god it's Friday" and to rush back home to prepare the celebration of the new years eve.

Looking forward to 2019!
